“Mirror Mirror” Los Angeles Premiere

Lily looked absolutely stunning as she hit the red carpet at the “Mirror Mirror” premiere in Los Angeles on March 17. She wore a lovely Dolce & Gabbana dress, combined with Giuseppe Zanotti high heels, a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch and H Stern jewellery. They later celebrated at the after party Lily’s birthday which was the day after on March 18. Lily was joined at the after party by her parents Phil Collins and Jill Tavelman. Lily Collins embarks on a thoroughly modern fairy tale with her first starring role,
as a sword-fighting, prince-saving Snow White.

When Lily Collins arrived for her first costume fitting as Snow White on the Montreal set of Mirror Mirror, she assumed the most fabulous getups would go to her co-star Julia Roberts, who plays the evil queen. “I saw all these dramatic, colourful, amazing outfits and I thought, ‘Wow, Julia’s so lucky,’” says the 23-year-old British-born actress who’s best known for playing Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side. “And then they started bringing them in, and I said, ‘Is this for me?’ The first outfit took 25 minutes to get into, and when I looked in the mirror I got teary-eyed.” Then there were the elaborate sets; she describes a giant indoor forest and 40 tons of salt for snow. “I was sprinting through this huge room of trees, in my ball gown, sword-fighting, going up cliffs,” she marvels. “When the crew brought their kids onto set, they would see me and start crying. They were like, ‘Blanche Neige!’”

Lily Collins can’t choose between actress and journalist, so Hollywood’s newest princess is determined to triumph as both.

Kate Middleton, it is said, waited eight years to become a princess. For Lily Collins, it took less than 24 hours. The audition was on a Thursday. On Friday morning, her cell rang with the storybook offer of a lifetime: She would play Snow White in the big-screen fantasy Mirror Mirror, opposite living legend Julia Roberts as the evil queen. “Because it was just like a fairy tale, it sometimes feels like, ‘Wait, is this happening?’ ” Collins says between sips of tea at one of her favorite West Hollywood restaurants.
