Lily attends Surprise Screening of “MaXXXine”

‘Maxxxine’: Ti West, Lily Collins Shock Fans with Surprise Screening of New Horror Movie

THR – It was supposed to be a double feature of West’s killer thrillers ‘X’ and ‘Pearl.’ But then the script was flipped.

Ti West and A24 pulled off a killer surprise Thursday night, unveiling an early screening of their upcoming slasher movie Maxxxine to a group of unsuspecting horror fans.

The evening was billed as a double feature of West’s X horror series, which includes X and Pearl, the movies that thrust Mia Goth into the role Hollywood’s nouveau killer queen. The sold-out evening brought out film nerds and horror geeks of all shapes and hairstyles — some dressed up as Pearl, some wearing Pearl T-shirts, while others sported T-shirts with logos and characters ranging from X-Men to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood‘s Rick Dalton.

During a Q&A in between the two screenings, moderator and Maxxxine actress Lily Collins and West suddenly switched gears. Collins asked how many in the audience had seen Pearl — and almost all raised their hands. She then posited the question: if everyone had seen that movie, why see it again if they could just see Maxxxine? The crowd cheered in the affirmative, although it was clear the audience didn’t think she was serious. When West confirmed, saying, “You’re going to be the first to see this movie,” the crowd went wild, cheering and whistling. Some gasped and covered their mouths.

“Just don’t spoil it,” West said.

Lily Collins Is in the Driver’s Seat

The first thing I notice about Lily Collins is that she’s cut her chestnut locks into a thick fringe. While it covers enough of her forehead to obscure her famously fluffy brows, the fresh look somehow feels remarkably fitting. It’s so fitting, in fact, that the moment when Emily in Paris costume designer Marylin Fitoussi laid eyes on it, she declared, “Oh, now I know where we’re going in season three for your character.” Emily Cooper wouldn’t exist without Lily Collins, but it’s Emily who gives us a glimpse into Collins’s most charismatic real-life qualities too. As showrunner Darren Star aptly put it, the success of a series like Emily in Paris stands on the shoulders of a single person. Enter Collins.

Lily Collins Is Making Her Move

Lily Collins has been famous since she was a teen, garnering awards, accolades…and her fair share of column inches. After the enormous success of Emily in Paris, she tells Alice Wignall why she’s finally taking control of her own story

ELLE UK – It’s a grey morning in Soho when Lily Collins and I meet for breakfast. She flew in from LA the night before – the plane was delayed, Heathrow was a mess – and though she’s had some sleep, she definitely needs caffeine, because there’s this interview to do, not to mention a cover shoot. Fortunately Charlie – that is, Charlie McDowell, her very new husband of all of 16 days when we meet – has given the heads-up on a coffee spot not far from the hotel, so we head out into the chill of late September in London.
